Darius Boshoff

A bioenergy specialist, Darius has deep expertise in waste to energy from technology to project development and implementation within thermal and biological processes. He established Kisiwa Farming Limited in Tanzania as a plantation rehabilitation and green energy producing business with local farming partners.

The flagship project is a coconut processing hub establishment on Mafia Island, where residues are converted into energy for the whole island and energy integration forms a big part of the coconut processing cycle.  He has a key understanding of the carbon cycle and impacts and believes soil chemistry and biology management is key to long term plantation productivity. He is a partner in Energidrop, a South African Engineering firm, and Witech Group, a Swiss multinational for a waste to energy infrastructure development world-wide. He is also a founding member of the Waste Transformation for Energy Association.

It is his belief that bioenergy opportunities closely coupled with coconut production and processing can provide unique employment, growth and investment opportunities for underserved communities and emerging economies.

Darius Boshoff

A South African born professional chemical engineer and entrepreneur, and now bioenergy specialist, Darius has been involved in the bioenergy sector in Africa for the past 15 years. His expertise in waste to energy reaches from technology to project development and implementation and covers thermal and biological processes. He established Kisiwa Farming Limited in Tanzania as a plantation rehabilitation and green energy producing business in 2019 with several local farming partners.

The flagship project is a coconut processing hub establishment on Mafia Island, where residues are converted into energy for the whole island and energy integration forms a big part of the coconut processing cycle. Darius, his wife Liezel and their daughter Ayla live on Mafia Island.

It is his belief that bioenergy opportunities closely coupled with coconut and other crop production and processing can provide unique employment, growth and investment opportunities for underserved communities and emerging economies. Local capacity building through on the job training and education for ensuring zero waste policies and optimal use of resources is key to this sector development.
